Kicking Cancer's Butt
“The staff was great,” said Larry Jung. “They bent over backwards to resolve any issues that I had. You couldn’t find a friendlier and more professional group of people."
It was a winter’s day and Larry was in his doctor’s office when he heard the news. He couldn’t believe it. His doctor said that he had Stage IV Non-Hodgkin’s Lymphoma.
Larry’s mind was racing… “We were looking for this. But stage four? How did this happen? What do I do?” The doctor reassured him and said that he would receive chemotherapy at Emanate Health.
Larry heard of Emanate Health before. He lived nearby, and both his father and neighbor’s wife had good things to say about their treatment. Larry started to prepare for his chemotherapy sessions.
His first cycle was in April 2021 and the treatment included staying at the hospital for six days at a time every month. Larry completed his seventh and final cycle in October, which also happened to be his birthday. The staff got together and wanted to do something special to celebrate both his birthday and completing chemo!
They bought banners, balloons, and a birthday cake for Larry. After surprising him for his birthday celebration, they asked him to come to the hallway where they had put up a bell and a sign saying “I Kicked Cancer’s Butt!” With a big smile and a grateful heart, Larry rang the bell and thanked everyone for making his chemo treatment as enjoyable a time as possible.
“You couldn’t find a friendlier and more professional group of people. Thank you to Celia, Clare, Masae, Wally, George, Michelle, Jules, Teresa, Kayla, Brandon, Michael, Richie, Henry, Charlotte, Maria, Evelyn, Daniel, Chris, and all the other support staff.”
