Statement on Transition of Perinatal Department from Foothill Presbyterian Hospital to Queen of the Valley Hospital
On August 11, 2019, Emanate Health Foothill Presbyterian Hospital (FPH) in Glendora will move its perinatal department operations to Queen of the Valley Hospital (QVH) in West Covina, which is better equipped with the resources to safely deliver and care for newborns.
While FPH has been a place of compassionate care and birth for thousands of babies throughout the years and had an excellent safety record, health care has progressed and best practice dictates that critical higher-level safety measures be in place in order to guarantee a safe delivery. The most important of these being a Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) and having a 24-hour anesthesiologist/laborist on site. A laborist is a doctor that is based in the hospital to deliver babies in emergent situations.
The good news for the community we serve is that under the Emanate Health system umbrella, we offer this specialized care at our sister hospital QVH in West Covina, just miles away from Glendora. As background, Emanate Health is the new name of our overall system, formerly Citrus Valley Health Partners. Rest assured that while our name has changed, our mission is stronger than ever and that includes knowing we’ll do whatever it takes to benefit your health and wellness.
As such, physicians are working closely with their patients and Emanate Health to arrange for any service needs to ensure expectant mothers have a smooth transition with their trusted doctors.
The staff at QVH is looking forward to welcoming families from FPH with open arms and providing the best care possible in the region for mothers and their precious newborns. We are grateful for the compassionate care that our staff at FPH has provided families through the years and we look forward to enhancing the overall patient experience at QVH.
