COVINA, Calif. – Observing distancing guidelines during a global pandemic, Emanate Health Foundation has “Reimagined” the 31st Annual Autumn Nocturne, October 17, by hosting a drive-in event at Covina District Field to honor health care heroes. Proceeds from the event will support Emanate Health’s COVID-19 Relief Fund. Register online at www.emanatehealth.org/foundation or call 626.814.2421.
“Since the beginning of the pandemic, Emanate Health Heroes have gone beyond the call of duty to treat COVID-19 patients demonstrating heartfelt compassion while many fought for their lives alone, except for the around-the-clock care that they received from their doctors, nurses and caregivers,” said Emanate Health Foundation CEO Michelle Stoddard. “During these dark times, our health care heroes offered light and warm words to give our patients hope. We’re recognizing our Emanate Health heroes for serving as rays of sunshine during these difficult times.”
At the event, the Foundation will recognize Emanate Health Heroes through a drive-by tribute and a short program. Representatives from across the Emanate Health system will be in attendance.
“COVID-19 changed everything about how health care systems nationally delivered care to patients and forced hospitals to be creative in treating a virus that seemed like a moving target to doctors, nurses and staff,” said Emanate Health Chief Executive Officer Rob Curry. “I cannot thank our staff enough for demonstrating bravery, ingenuity and compassion while caring for COVID-19 patients. It’s that higher calling that drives our staff during this time and for that they have my highest level of respect and admiration.”
Following the program, the Foundation will show the hit, baseball-theme film, “A League of Their Own,” starring Tom Hanks, Geena Davis, Rosie O’Donnell and Madonna on a 50-foot screen. As guests arrive, they will receive a goodie bag filled with munchable movie snacks and will be able to hear the program and movie on their FM radios. Guests are encouraged to wear baseball jerseys of their favorite teams. Carloads of family members are welcome to safely attend the event.
“I remember watching ‘A League of Their Own’ years ago and I’ll never forget Tom Hanks’ classic line in the film, ‘There’s no crying in baseball,’” said Lisa Fuerst, chairwoman of the Emanate Health Foundation Board of Trustees. “I applaud the creativity of the Autumn Nocturne committee and the Emanate Health Foundation staff for coming up with an innovative drive-in theme to help recognize our health care heroes in these most unprecedented of times.”
The event will also feature an online auction with many exciting items, including a weekend getaway to Baja California, a three-night escapade to a desert oasis, and a fishing expedition for four in Newport Harbor.
Covina District Field is located at 200 W. Puente St. in Covina. The gates open at 6 p.m. and the program begins at 7 p.m. Guests must register before arriving to the event.
